Ziva R. Hassenfeld Hassenfeld

Ziva R. Hassenfeld is a Faculty Associate Fellow of Pardes North America. She also serves as the Jack, Joseph, and Morton Mandel Assistant Professor in Jewish Education at Brandeis University and Director of Research for the Mandel Center. Ziva studied at Pardes in 2006-2008.

Ziva’s academic work focuses on reading comprehension from a sociocultural perspective, connecting the fields of biblical interpretation, literary theory, and Jewish education to explore how children develop interpretations of the Hebrew Bible. Alongside her academic research, Ziva is a passionate educator who has taught Hebrew Bible in a wide range of settings, including preschool, high school, and adult education.
