Advance a sophisticated, knowledgeable approach to Judaism
Inspiration only goes so far. The Pardes focus on classical text study turns Jews from every denomination and outlook into deep Jewish thinkers, producers of Torah wisdom, and active leaders of learning in their communities.
These alumni stories offer a glimpse of Pardes’s far-reaching impact:

Sarah Mulhern (’08-’10)
Rabbi of Base Lincoln Park, Chicago
Coming from an interfaith family without day school experience, Sarah was convinced that she would always be playing catch-up and would never be leadership material. But her time at Pardes gave Sarah the deep Torah learning foundation and experiences that fundamentally transformed her Jewish leadership abilities. “Learning Torah is maybe the primary expression of my Jewish life and identity, and I didn’t really have access to that before Pardes.”
Today, Sarah is the rabbi of Silverstein Base Lincoln Park, bringing Jewish life and learning to thousands of Chicago-area students and community members in their 20s and 30s.

Maxim Delchev (’17-’18)
Executive Director · Bulgarian Jewish community
Growing up in Bulgaria right after the fall of communism, Maxim’s Jewish experience was of a community trying to restore itself after a long period of inactivity. Even as Maxim became more involved, his Jewish learning skills remained limited. The turning point was a year at Pardes. Maxim returned to Bulgaria as a Jewish educational leader, directing the establishment of Bulgaria’s first Jewish school since the 1940s.
Today, as executive director of Shalom, the umbrella organization for all Jewish community life in Bulgaria, Maxim leverages his strong Jewish learning capabilities to guide Bulgarian Jews toward becoming learners and leaders themselves.
Build our future Jewish leaders
Pardes alumni hold founding and senior leadership roles at the organizations shaping Jewish life and learning.

“Pardes gave my life in Israel a deeper and richer meaning, and profoundly informed both my diplomatic and historical outlooks. I remain singularly grateful to Pardes for the lifelong gift of Jewish learning it so bountifully gave me.”
Dr. Michael Oren
Heal societal polarization
The Pardes Mahloket Matters approach is spreading to communities and organizations across the Jewish world, teaching how to leverage difference to create stronger, more resilient relationships.
“Given the complex times we’re living through, we felt that we needed to tackle how to have difficult conversations within our own congregation. The Mahloket Matters approach has not only enabled us to engage a significant portion of our congregation around important Jewish topics in a fresh and timely way… [it] brings us closer together at a moment when some of us are breaking apart.”
Rabbi Andrea London

“Pardes is one of the few places where Jews of every background sit at the same table and read the same text. That’s the future we want to fund.”

“When my parents passed, we wanted their love of Torah to keep teaching. Endowing Pardes was the most lasting tribute we could imagine.”

“If there’s one thing the Jewish people need right now, it’s the capacity to disagree well. Pardes is teaching that — at scale.”
